Cardinal Flying Into Window Again and Again...May 09

After hearing a noise, I watched the female cardinal or red bird flying into the window over and over again before finally grabbing the camera to catch the last couple minutes. I have seen birds fly into the windows, but never one so persistently. She is still around but hasn't repeated this behavior.

i have a male cardinal doing the same thing for about three weeks now. last year it was a black and white tit mouse bird and the year before that was a little brown bird. i think they are trying to get to the reflection.

When you first start the video, you can see right out at the row of trees right? Well that is what the Cardinal is seeing on the outside, a reflection of it's surroundings so it thinks that there is nothing but trees in front of it, hence it is just trying to fly straight to more trees. You can stop this by putting something...anything in or on the window to break up the relfection.

I just posted a video of a male cardinal that comes to our back door and does the same thing, every day all throughout the day. I had no idea there were so many others with the same problem and all with cardinals? How odd.
