Thanks for the info, that fits in with what I observed because during the late afternoon the convection
rapidly died when the temp dropped. There were very good lapse rates though which helped with the thunder.

All that convection was due to solar heating of the day, and even, temperate waters that were the trigger mechanism for the clusters that you could shoot.

Nice video. I was out on the same day (driving to Limavady). I saw some beautiful mammatus clouds at the edge of a CB. Really need to get a camera!

Thanks, glad you seen the mammatus on the same day. I hope you get a camera soon because we need more storm photographers in NI to cover these events over a wider area. There's some amazing things happening from time to time. You must have seen cool sights in the past from the plane too. Best of luck!
