no green day did not put punk on the map. the ramones did the misfits did bad religion did and a few other bands. but not green day is not one of them

Well Greenday and Offspring used to be punkrock bands and made it big. Unfortunately their sound got very very watered down to boost record sales. Its not a question of being punk rock or not, its a question of making good music from the heart or not. Offspring and Greenday have simply not been making good honest music from the heart in a long time.

Hopefully, that wont happen to Gaslight Anthem.
