@KatieG53 Hi Katie---just in case the previous answers weren't clear---Gordo did NOT write this song---it was written by Hamilton Camp. I think the first recorded version was by Hamilton Camp and Bob Gibson----"Gibson & Camp" was their stage name, and Hamilton Camp ultimately changed his name to Bob Camp.
It's still my ultimate favorite "folk" song. Now it seems frighteningly prophetic.
