Tex Murphy: Under A Killing Moon Longplay Pt. 1/26 (Intro)

Like with some of the other games which I posted, I cannot stress enough of how good this game is. If you've never tried any of the Tex Murphy games then you're in for a big surprise. In my view, they along with certain other games, are the epitome of how good the FMV game genre can be.


Game Description:

It's December, 2042. And you're the only P.I. that follows the old steps of Philip Marlow, Spade, and other classic detectives. This time, the world depends upon you. How? Why? It's not for me to tell. Take your gun, and see what'll be next. Well, you'll drop it via the window accidentally, but I guess that won't stop you from solving the case.

Under A Killing Moon, unlike the Tex Murphy adventures that came before it, takes place in a world whose locations are pure 3D in which you have full maneuverability. You can even look for clues underneath desks, chairs, etc. Other features include an online hint system (that decreases your final score the more you use it), extensive support for additional sound/music devices, and full-motion video technology.

how did you get Under A Killing Moon to work? I've to run the game under MS DOS, but it keeps failing. What to do?

Do a google search for "fourth law dosbox under a killing moon", the first link will be it. It's a comprehensive guide for getting the game to run under dosbox without the need to switch between discs during the game.

Yes, I did the Google search as well, followed all the instructions, but when the video was processed, was it done wrong?

Reason why I ask that, is because at some points in the game, the video slows down, or is a little choppy.

Especially at the Access logo screen, the video there really slows down. But I did finally get the game to work :D

These were some of the best games of my vintage..!.. I still have the Overseer box with the LED blinky. But it was tough getting that DVD to work... :(

Anyway, I've played the Murphy games, and I should say this one is probably the best one (at least for me) and a diamond in the rough at a time when FPS was becoming the predominant genre of PC games!

btw - When The Pandora Directive came out I was 9 yrs old, I would get up at night and secretly play it because i was permitted, hehe... played it 5 or 6 six times till then and now it's time for the predecessors :D

This was seriously the best game ever. I still remember it after all these years...wish they would make more like it.
