North Shore-LIJ's Harvey Cushing Institute of Neurosciences recently sponsored Family Fun Day for kids who had arterial venous malformations (AVMs) - defects of the circulatory system believed to develop in utero.
AVMs can develop in many different sites; those located in the brain or spinal cord can have especially widespread effects on the body. It is remarkable that these kids, having been through a potentially devastating event, cannot be distinguished from children their age who didnt have the condition.

Great event. Really shows what the organization is all about.
