Students from the Community College of Rhode Islands Biotechnology program met with Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri at the State House on Dec. 17 to discuss the future of the biotech industry in Rhode Island.
The governor said that Rhode Island is in a strong position to become a leader in the field, with biotech companies Amgen and Alexion Inc. located in the state and with CCRI, Brown University and the University of Rhode Island offering programs to provide a well-trained workforce.
I think those of you who are investing your time and energy into this industry are going to find that its a good thing to do, Carcieri said.
