regarding the fact that it was him who just about 40mins before the collision ignored a wireless ice warning from the closeby ship California and even insulted the man trying to warn him, his staying there seems a little less heroic but more driven by a bad conscience to me...

just wondering i read somewhere that the last distress call was sent at 2:17 am april 15th, but wouldnt the ship the wireless room be like 10 meters under water.
but either way he was the only reason the carpathia came to rescue them
