Wow, great playing! You're one of my greatest bass-idols!

Great playing as awlays! I do think its to bad that you mess up the bass sound, the JD has a great punchy midtone range and you muted it with an EQ.
-
Good technique - horrible audio.
Also what are the dots on your BB ?

Gary is one of the very few bassists on YouTube or anywhere for that matter who can accurately produce the Mark King tone and vibe. Great playing as always Gary!

Just a quick question, I've seen your videos before and think your brilliant. I have a bass (Squire P-Bass - Sorry don't have the cash for better!) and I want to play slap bass like youself. But I don't get the same sort of sound as you or Mark King gets. What do I need to do? Do I need to set the guitar up differently to play slap bass?

@burkezillar I was pretty much in the same boat as you (still I'm not great). I think in general the slap sound from P-bass isn't as nice but it should be fine (I have the J version of same bass). The main reason is simply technique, once you are more consistent with each note and your timing it starts to flow together much better.
Other than that try having your action nice and low and some light strings. DR lo riders are my favourite so far.
