Amtrak Buffalo Bills Special Train - Buffalo-Depew - 10/8/95

A marching band, drunken hooligans, and one long Amtrak train (approximately 20 cars) set the scene at the Buffalo-Depew station. This arrangement was started in 1995 in an effort to bring in more Bills fans from points east of Buffalo as part of a regionalization plan for the Bills franchise. This was the inaugural Bills train, hence the festive atmosphere.

The Bills won this game against the Jets with a few touchdowns, multiple Steve Christie field goals, and it was Merv Levy's 100th Coaching Victory as the Bills won 29-10.

When I was a charter coach driver, I got to the point where I refused to drive charters from Toronto to Bills games. On the way to the game, the people were already drunk. Just imagine after the game. They always trashed the bus on the way home, making me work an extra two hours to clean it all up. And for some reason they could never hold their bladders despite never being more than 40' from a washroom. The idea of a whole train load of them gives me the shivers. At least the engineer was safe.

Too bad they didnt build a station right at the Bills stadium and run Amtrak right down the BR&P line. Alot more convienent
