Message from Barack Obama to Iran

President Obama released a special video message for all those celebrating Nowruz in March 2009. Translated "New Day," Nowruz marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the New Year for millions in Iran and other communities around the world.

The video is important as it indicates a number of key developments:

1) The Obama administrations efforts to engage Iran in diplomatic talks
2) The White House's use of the internet to promote political policy, in particular YouTube
3) Attempts to subvert state censorship by communicationg directly with the people of Iran through sites such as YouTube
4) Possible U.S. efforts to affect the upcoming Iranian election, which three months from this video being boradcast ended in street protests and riots
