In this episode I continue talking about backmasking and hidden satanic messages. This one includes clips from skeptic, Michael Shermer and Illuminati conspiracy nutcase John Todd aka Lance Collins. I also discuss record burnings, the Judas Priest case, and I touch on contemporary instances of Satanic Panic that will be the main topic of part 8.

  • Funny thing about John Todd: he began lecturing churches in 1972 as an ex-Satanist, around the same time Mike Warnke was touring with Morris Cerrullo, a long-time Christian con artist. Todd was exposed in 1973, vanishing from the spotlight for three years until 1976, when he turned up running a coven and an occult bookstore. In late 1977 he was back at the "ex-occultist" racket, then vanished again in 1979, claiming a "Satanic takeover' was coming in 1980.

  • @MrJohndoakes I had to keep my coverage of Todd relatively sparse because of all the conflicting information and huge gaps in available information. I think it would be great to see a full investigative report on him but that would be one intense research project. I was even a little reluctant to state that he's dead because of so many people who are insisting that he is still alive and hiding from the Illuminati. I found enough credible evidence to support dead, but it wasn't easy. No obituary.

  • No article about his death in any official newspaper or even a reference as to what newspaper to look in. I wasn't able to find any statement from family members. It's like he was a transient who had cut off all social contacts -- but then he also had this fame within a certain sector of society. One of the weirdest things I've ever come across.

  • @Godlesspanther Thanks for responding; I don't believe the insane conspiracy theories Todd promoted or were promoted about Todd, but it should be said that a lot of people appear and disappear in Fundie circles for a sea of reasons. The "wandering preacher" was pretty common in Todd's time (including entire revivalist families in buses) and a lot of Fundies were/are paranoid about the federal government even though they are pro-military.

  • @MrJohndoakes I can't help bu think that Todd's disappearances were connected to criminal activities. The sex crimes, the compulsive lying, and the phony occult stuff are what we did find out about. I came across something where the author believes that the evangelist savior character in the Dark Dungeons Chick tract is based on Todd. I do think you should do a vid on what you know about this stuff.

  • Would anyone be able to post a link to (or at least the name of) the documentary about the Judas Priest case? Thank you!

  • @mwfte It's on Youtube, in six parts, look up; Dream Deceivers Judas Priest on Trial.

  • The 1987 rape arrest was not Todd's first; in 1976 he was jailed for two months for having sex with a minor, and during his 1973 speaking engangements he was accused of making advances toward women. It should also be said that the Protestant environment contributed to Todd's "success" because the mainstream churches do not talk to the Fundies, and the Fundy churches avoid each other for a number of nutty reasons.

  • I realized that many Christian conservatives can be environmentally DESTRUCTIVE. They worry more about "satanic messages" in albums so they burned them despite the fact that such burning would pollute the air. Christians are more threatened by satan than the dangers of air pollution, LOL. They're polluting the environment and worsen global warming.

  • @MrJohndoakes He also molested his own step-daughter, too. I wonder if he did that as a pretend-Christian or a pretend-Wiccan.

  • When i was in school me and my friends try to find backmasking messages in songs. all the time. lol It was more or less like a game for us. it was something that was fun to have debates and discussion's on with in the group i hang out with.

  • hahah what the fuck????

  • @Godlesspanther - I can imagine...there's also a section of conspiracy theorists who believe that Todd was actually released from prison way back in 1993 and picked up in an Illuminati-piloted helicopter, after which he was killed by being dropped into shark-infested waters(!)...if that was the case, amazing how no trace of his body was ever found, eh? :-)
