The photos that have emerged of Leonard Nimoy as "Old Spock" from the new "Star Trek" movie trailer got me to wondering what it would have been like if Barry Atwater had lived long enough to reprise his role as Surak later in the franchise. We've seen Nimoy as an older Mr. Spock, and Mark Lenard played his father Sarek again in his later years. Atwater died in 1978, before the "Trek" resurgence resulted in more opportunities to play the Vulcan he created on the original series. (Bruce Gray played the role on a 2004 episode of "Enterprise.") So here...through a little amateur Photoshop work, is a composite of "Old Spock" and a screen capture of Atwater in his last TV role, on "The Rockford Files."
When I saw your result, my face showed surprise. I apologize.

Thanks for giving us a peek at the real-deal Father of Vulcan Philosophy in his senior years. I reckon if the great Barry Atwater had still been with us into the 1990s, he'd have appeared in DS9 as a Cardassian. He had the ideal build and colouring for one - tall, slender, and those beautiful blue eyes... Deep sigh.

Who is speaking? Should not ambasadors use more straightforward language than that which is found on the 'silverish screen' as it is known? Is there not some reasonable reason that should be offered rather than divination and sorcery? Comple this philisophical phrase 'I think therefore I am' (what reasoning?)
