A true classic Tour video of the 1987 Mont Ventoux individual Time Trial...including Phil Liggett's poetic commentary: "...he would dare to answere again when the mountain repeated its relentless challenge--how high? how far? how fast?" I recorded this on my VCR in 1987 when CBS Sports used to recap the Tour stages from the previous days of competition, add music and dramatic commentary. Andy Hampsten, Pedro Delgado, Stephen Roche, Jean Francios Bernard are all here. As Phil himself might say "sorry for the slight picture breakup" near the beginning of the video...it's due to relentless playing back of the videotape. Now it's digitized for the future. Uploaded the night before the 2009 Ventoux stage...just to get fired up. Enjoy!

  • One of the greatest pieces of sports commentary ever! i too have this on vhs but it is getting too scratchy to play. Thanks for uploading for us all to re-enjoy. That shot of Roche in the starters box still sends a chill down my spine - such incredible focus.
