the answer to this is: contact the ACLU. They took my case and we BEAT the bastards on one of 2 charges -- a "speeding" charge. HOAs - taking Neighbor out of Neighborhood! These are not created by homeowners, so please don't say that "we create these problems for ourselves". The developers created them and the HOA management companies control them and put friends and other thieves on the boards. Then they control the hapless consumers (you and me) via terrorism with these "contracts" that make painting your home without bloody permission a crime. Mandatory Associations foreclosing in America...Acronym: MAFIA
I think HOA is the most stupidity we create for ourselves - the home owners - you pay for the HOA & you get a lot of problems from them. You pay tax for your own house then HOA is the real owner. You have to ASK them before you can do something on your OWN HOUSE
We need people to help stop the arbitrary financial demands and HOA harassment being perpetrated on "homeowners" by mandatory HOAs and their industry partners in America. Living in these mandatory HOA corporations is not "freedom" or "homeownership," it is "taxation without representation" and HOA harassment. Also HOA homes sell for less than comparable homes NOT located in HOAs. This is a documented fact.
Something needs to be done now about limiting the power these greedy Mgmt companies and lawyers have. I am being threatened to be sued by my HOA's mgmt company all based on one neighbors lies and exagerrated complaints all because she is putting her house up for sale. My poor kids are scared to play outside now. I have had to totally change my way of life for fear she could call and make something up then I'll be sued. We are renting our house and moving to a non HOA neighborhood.
Right on target - HOAs reduce property values by eliminating the peaceful enjoyment of ownership. Americans buy property to be free from nosey "landlords" - and the mentality of most HOA cloned managers, lawyers and boards is that the HOA is the supreme ruler, not the homeowner. This is a failed concept, and democracy is the cure. Compel all mandatory HOAs to follow prop code 201 for renewal of their charters. Democratic "voluntary renewals" would validate these "contracts". Status quo = FRAUD!
Agreed. HOA won't let me put up antennas... but then again i have my ways around it :P
