Monticello RailRoad Days @ Monticello, Illinois 9/19/10 - SR 1907 Built Steam Locomotive!

This video is of our trip to the Monticello Railroad Museum in Monticello, Illinois, where we went to the annual Monticello Railroad Days, mainly to see the ex-Southern Railway #401 2-8-0 steam locomotive at the Monticello Railroad Depot in downtown Monticello, Illinois. It made its debut for the first time in 15 years here in Monticello! What an exciting event! Railfans from all over the midwest came to see, photograph, videotape, and document this! The locomotive here is sitting, boarding passengers to go to downtown Monticello, Illinois. I will post a video onto YouTube with this by no later than Sunday, January 16.

On September 19th, 2010, we took the 148 mile drive northeast from our house in Glen Carbon, IL to the Monticello Railroad Museum in Monticello, IL for the annual Monticello Railroad Days; we even brought our dog, Mandy! This was a rare event; the ex-Southern Railway #401 2-8-0 steam locomotive was running after 15 years (that's how old I am, at least at the time of this photo) of it being out of service and being worked on by the Monticello Railroad Museum staff & volunteers. We were absolutely amazed when they let our dog, Mandy ride the mixed train excursion that went out east of the museum, and they even let her ride on the steam excursion running from the museum to the depot in downtown Monticello! The steam excursion train was well air conditioned and the seats were very comfortable (Mandy sure thought so, LOL)!
