Well, surely this is nothing special for an experienced pick player, but taking into account that I hardly use a pick, this one took a fair amount of time to capture with a decent result. I already have another pickstyle video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5z1gWLFBr0&fmt=18 ) but that one is far easier since it is not necessary to be as accurate as here. Not trying to replicate Burke Shelley's exquisite P-bass tone, but wanted to use the plectrum to at least try to preserve the typical pick attack. Anyway, "Breadfan" (the original version by Budgie) is one of my favorite hard rock tunes and, according to my research, this is the first bass cover of this song on YouTube. Maybe find it boring to play? I don't think so. It has plenty of power and energy and it's real fun! Plus, it's another chance to showcase my beloved (although hardly played in public) Peavey T-40. BTW, the bass is tuned slightly more than half a step below the standard tuning (an exact half step sounds so out of tune playing along with the recording). Hope you enjoy this effort. Thanks for watching!

P.S.: Forgot to mention that you can find my transcription of this bassline (and others - I'll add more if the site gets more traffic) at http://www.alvabasstuff.blogspot.com/

  • Hey Alva! My name is Cajun and I'm only 25, I'm in a band with a bunch of older guys and we play rock/surf/punk music. One of my guitar players turned me on to this song and this band and I am absolutely addicted. This song is amazing and I love your bass cover and I had to sign in to tell you that you did an awesome job and to keep rocking my friend!

  • @MalachiDrums: Thank you so much for your kind comment! I really appreciate it.

  • is the bass comfortable to play, hows the neck?

  • @MrRush1974: The neck is one of the best for my taste: Wide (side to side) and thin (front to back). I love it. Something to take into account is the fact that the Peavey T-40 is one of the heaviest (if not THE heaviest) 4-string single neck basses ever made. Thank you for your comment!

  • also would you recommend the peavey t-40 as a starter bass? i already play the 6 string guitar pretty well, I kind of want to check out bass

  • @therealsporadicaarmy: It is also one of the heaviest single neck 4-string basses ever made. So, if weight is a concern, the Peavey T-40 isn't the bass for you.

Hope this helps. Thank you one more time! :^)
