Hey y'all. Ever want to eat a healthy variety but not wanted to pay for it? How's about not spending money on groceries at all? Watch us offload a slightly above average 400 dollar load of groceries without bothering to walk down the isles or wait in line at the cash register.
Part 1 includes introductions to diving and footage of what's in the dumpster. Part 2 shows the load and continues to give experienced advice.

In our town, between 12:30 AM and 3:30 AM are the best times to dive, as nobody's in the store. Your area may be different. Just pay attention and be careful and you'll get the hang of this wonderful, environmentally friendly, financially intelligent activity.
Enjoy!
-The team.

  • Does whole foods throw out food like this? Is it easy finding fruits and veggies? It looks like you guys scored a bunch of meat and sweets type stuff but i didn't see much of the actual healthy food that i would be interested in.

  • @answertotodayis1776 It depends a lot on the actual whole foods location. Some throw away nearly zero, and some throw away lots of great fruits and veggies. There were lots of sweets in there, yeah, but there was some good stuff too. We had to feed more than 7 people, so we weren't terribly picky. Video #2 has the actual haul filmed. Good luck!

  • Your video makes me wonder what the trader joes near my house throws out. I had no idea of the waste. Seems they could separate and throw the bad out and not the entire package, poss sell the remainder at a discount?

  • @GasmanTen this particular TJ's has revamped their waste procedure and they incorporate a compost bin. The only remaining trash items are meat, dairy, eggs, and miscellaneous. I only scored about 50 bucks (replacement cost, for example filet minion 1 lb valued @ $2) last time I was there. Other less wasteful places will actually throw more usable food out. I'd love to hear that you found some goodies and at least had some fun!

  • @tubestick00 You omitted a few possibilities: it was a customer return or was forgotten to be refrigerated or had slightly punctured/torn outer wrapping, to name a few.

I'll second you on "go look in a dumpster for yourself people" though.

  • If you get over the fact that it is from a dumpster its just like regular food. Me and my friend did this one time and had a bbq the next day with 20 people there all from dumpster diving.
