In our shootout between these two popular 1080p home theater projectors, we compared the two side by side on a matte gray wall, and then dropped our electric screen down so we could see half the images on the screen and see some serious improvement. So if you've ever wondered the difference, here is some low rez evidence in the power of a a screen.

  • So... better image is the Epson 1080 UB. Better deal might be the AX200U. You could buy two AX200s for the price of the 1080UB. Remember you will need to get an audio adaptor if you are using an HDMI input.

  • Hello jarablue. The main differences between the AX200U and 1080UB are resolution and brightness. The AX200 is 720p native resolution (but scales to 1080p) but it is brighter with 2000 lumens. It also has a 'game mode' and costs about a $1000 less. However, the image on the Epson 1080UB is one of the best we've seen. Its got a 50,000 contrast which means better details in the shadows. It will perform best in a dedicated home theater with controlled lighting.

  • Do to bed kid and stop bothering people!

  • quick question. what screen is that? what is the brand?

  • Keep in mind that it is the AE2000U that is being reviewed here, not the previous-generation AX200U. The AE2000U is Full HD while the AX is not.

  • Ummm so is it the HomeCinema 1080UB or AX2000? Which one has the better image?
