Oak Park, Illinois is where I grew up for most of my later childhood years. (OPRF class of 1979)

This video was shot just a few hundred feet away from one of Ernest Hemingway's homes.

I got married in the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Unity Temple--the Unitarian Church in Oak Park--which appears in this video.

If you are a history buff, the Barbara's Bookstore is actually the old Montgomery Wards store. The Borders is actually the old Marshall Fields store. You can see the Field's clock in the video. The cafe in the Borders is where they used to sell the Frango mints at Christmas time.

The Lake theatre has been there since I was a kid. They re-furbished it years ago and restored the art-deco feel to the building.

Does anyone remember Wieboldt's stores? The Whole Foods sits on the prior location of Wieboldts. They had a three story garage and my friends and I would ride our bikes in the there until the cops chased us out.

Tis video was taken just a few minutes before I ran into the deer that were running down Madison street in front of the bars.

Recorded on June 28, 2008 using a Flip Video camcorder.
