Flashback '71: J&R Celebrates 40 Years

Forty years ago, Joe and Rachelle Friedman took the money they'd received as a wedding gift and opened a 500 square foot record store in Downtown New York City across from City Hall Park. They called it "J&R". The year was 1971.

the shots of the old store bring back so many fond memories!! j&r was a a kid's dreamland and i'd visit that electronics heaven every chance i got as a kid growing up in ny. one thing that shocked the hell out of me: the Friedman's were one good lookin' couple! hollywood looks both of them! i dunno why but i always picture sharp business people as being not too attractive. hahaha! i guess they got lucky in the genetic sweepstakes, smart AND good-looking.BUT WHAT COUNTS IS THAT J&R IS THE BEST!!
