A lot of guys actually like Austen men upon acquaintance because while they may not be rescuing ladies from oncoming missiles, they live in a world where they have to know just the right thing to say in a world surrounded by women- and deal with real life issues. They're real men, real role models, not vampires, werewolves, Superman, or Bruce Willis. XP

The dance has the same name as the song, Mr. Beveridge's Maggot. (We just danced this at my monthly English country dance, and the caller explained that a maggot was a fanciful thought. Speaking of which, you should check out the Country Dance and Song Society to find out what's available in your area! I love that we can still dance like this 200 years after Pride and Prejudice.

i am a member of jane austen society of north america michigan chapter and happy annivesary pride and prejudice 200 years old i dream i am lizzy bennet i had a cat named elizabeth bennet that is how much i love P AND P i dream i have my mr darcy sad thing is i have not met him yet :(

to stay on topic though i love this scene in the miniseries, i had opportunity of visiting the ballroom in BATH it was the best experience imagining the room filled with people at such a social event dancing, afterwards i visited jane austen museum there and bought "persuasion" bbc dvd for 25£ but i didnt care i was just stoked at being in same town ,walking same streets and visiting places my favourite author did!

i'm thrilled i don't have to pick one and hate on another,or think less of one just to feel good about the other! in 200yrs i'll still remember all austen men like darcy, knightley, ferrars,brandon with equal affection as i will edward cullen from twilight! when i like a male character in a book its for life , i just make place for the new addition , when i discovered 2 yrs ago john thornton from North&South book/film i made space for him ....
