Shoulda pushed that Damm car out of the way

My uncle retired from NOFD many years ago...he was the captain on Ladder 5 in the late 60s. From my memories, the house doesn't look any different than it did then. I remember the old Engine 15 and Ladder 5 vividly from visiting my uncle at the firehouse. Glad to see the house has been refurbished!!

No tiller trucks here because most of the streets/intersections are too narrow... especially in the FQ

NOFD used to have mostly tractor-tillers and I thought they got thru the FQ pretty darn good. In fact, Ladder 5 was a t-t and it did fine, but never made it to the FQ because it was too far away.

Geeze what a turn radius. I hope their new station is more accommodating.

Engine 15 and Ladder 5 are back in service in the very same house shown here. Voters had approved money to renovate this house and a couple others before Katrina. It all happened to fall right around the time of the storm and delayed construction. The station was out of service for a couple years for the repairs. There was zero flooding in this part of the city. The house was done well, but lost most of it's old school charm. But it was long overdue and I am glad it is done.

Thank you for the update on this old Firehouse. It sure looks good from the Google Map picture and I am sure the inside is nice also. The Pierce engine and truck are great rigs. When I first went down there to Loyola U. in 1952, Engine 15 was using a 1925 ALF and Truck 5 had a 1941 ALF tractor-tiller with a 100 aerial. In 1957-8 Engine 15 got a new Mack pumper but Trk 5 kept the 48 ALF for a long time, replacing the tractor with an IH (I think).
