  • then i guess you dont really understand the stand up game. its just as complex as the ground game.

  • the point was that mma is not a system or an art the you go and learn

it is a sport where because both striking and grappling are needed ppl learn more then one thing. but ppl go around thinking they can learn mma and that is not possible, what you are learning is 3 separate arts and then using them in the ring. so until they make a standard of those arts combined then you are not learning any such thing as mma and i wish it would stop being promoted that way, its propaganda and miss education

  • That is what I call a good example of "applied bunkai", which can be done by experienced students. Coming to fight I prefer the interpretation of Iain Abernethy, but the principle of the Kata is demonstrated in a very good, not confusing way. Please, take my deep respect for your work shring with us. With a deep bow, Oss

  • @d123a123n these techniques were made when self-defense meant saving your life, not just getting away from a drunk in a bar

  • Great movie!

  • 3:48 "pull and break their neck" Killing someone sounds a little harsh lol. But yea thanks for the vids man :D

  • Thank you for your interpretation of the Kanku Dai application. I just started learning this kata so this is very helful....Oos

  • wonder how many people said that about karate 150 years ago lol ...the point is, mma is an art just like karate, gung fu, judo...etc. they're all mixed. it's just (usually) not geared for self defense. and it's not traditional so everyone says its not a style or art. mma is the art of mixing arts, which is exactly what karate is by definition. there is no such thing as a pure style. when you learn mma, you're learning (ironically) ..mixed martial arts. like learning judo and karate.

  • by the way the idea of martial art being good at both stand up and grappling is not new. karate is a very old system that includes both stand up and grappling as in judo since both came from the original jujitsu its just as a sport judo or karate focus on either stand up or ground but as an art they encompass every thing striking and grappling its just that most ppl dont make it past green belt but i think once good thing about mma is that it could force karate to focus more openly on grappling

  • point taken, but it's a bit over-simplistic in its description of mma. they're not just a bunch of barbarians who beat each others brains in daily. most of them embark on a full study of the main 3 arts that comprise mma. muay thai (or whatever their striking art is) ...wrestling, and bjj (or whatever their ground art is)...too many misconceptions on both sides IMO

  • See Lyoto Machida karate "tackles" moron.
