BBC's Greg Palast's crew of journalist-detectives chase down British Petroleum bag men, CIA operatives, nuclear power con men----and "The Vultures," billionaire financial speculators who, through bribery, flim-flam and political muscle, take entire nations hostage for mega-profits.

The action begins when the Deepwater Horizon explodes in the Gulf of Mexico and a confidential cable arrives on Miss Badpenny's desk from a terrified insider. He has the real, hushed-up facts of the disaster----which can only be found hidden in the files of a Central Asian dictatorship.

Palast sets off for Baku to investigate the sexiest Muslim woman on Earth and the whereabouts of millions of dollars in a brown valise. Then he jumps the globe to an Alaska Eskimo village after receiving an extraordinary note from the Chief of Intelligence of the Free Republic of the Arctic.

Along the way, Palast gets drunk, gets sober, gets laid, gets arrested. It's pulp non-fiction. Columbo with marital issues and a dying father.

  • Get real! Even brilliant intellectuals like Chomsky are ignored by the US media. It doesn't matter how you represent your facts; if you're telling the truth, you'll be ignored or labeled a crackpot. Almost everyone has heard of "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman (even Obama read it), yet hardly anyone has heard of "In the Jaws of the Dragon". Why? Because it presents the ugly truth about "free trade". Palast could sit there like a cultured stuffed shirt and the masses would still ignore him.

  • i'm a big fan of greg palast and even i think the schtick is wearing extremely thin.

come on. he has some of the most important information in the world, and he handicaps himself by playing out a film noir fantasy. very amateurish

  • Remonster is as credible, and his/her views as sensible, as using an umbrella in a hurricane/monsoon simultaneously occurrence. In other words, give zero credence to people who are obviously full of shit.

  • Lighten up Remonster...the shtick is good shit...reads just fine.

The what of is, is where it's at, AND it don't come easy.

I highly appreciate this man's work. He puts his ass on the line to git 'er done.

  • This 'shtick' is beginning to wear very thin.

    Try a different tact/k.
