Thanks for putting this up, but it's odd that after all that... the Bats only got mentioned a few times, and the Jean Paul Sartre Experience, just once. It would have been nice if their stories could have been included... I'm a Yank fan of Flying Nun, and those two bands, I always thought were quite significant and great.

I'd even go so far as to guess that the Bats is probably the 2nd most successful Flying Nun band after the Chills ?

this is an amazing find! thanks so much. growing up in the states, i was fascinated by the NZ and Flying Nun scene. also, thanks to WMBR in Cambridge MA for supporting and spreading the word!

Yeah -- WMBR. I listened every day when I lived in Boston in the mid 80s -- Breakfast of Champions and Late Risers Club. They were great champions of Flying Nun as well as lots of great Australian bands.

I never got to see the Chills but I did see the Verlaines at TT the Bears. It was tremendous to see them.
