"We consider this criminal and terrorist aggression. We put the responsibility on the American government," he told reporters following talks with UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband.

He added: "All of them [the victims] are civilians, Syrian, unarmed and they are on the Syrian territories.

"Killing civilians in international law means a terrorist aggression."

Asked if Syria would use force if a similar operation was mounted, he said: "As long as you are saying if, I tell you, if they do it again, we will defend our terrorities."

Referring to the US presidential election, he said: "We hope the coming administration will learn the mistakes of this administration." BBC.com

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) -- U.S. military helicopters attacked an area along Syria's border with Iraq Sunday, killing eight people, the Syrian government said.

The Syrian report comes just days after the commander of U.S. forces in western Iraq told reporters that American troops were redoubling efforts to secure the Syrian border, which he said was an "uncontrolled" gateway for fighters entering Iraq.

A government statement carried by the official Syrian Arab News Agency said Sunday's attack was on the Sukkariyeh Farm near the town of Abu Kamal, five miles inside the Syrian border. Four helicopters attacked a civilian building under construction, firing on the workers inside, shortly before sundown, the statement said.

The U.S. military in Baghdad did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

  • amelikanese are the cancer of this world.

  • the government. not all the people are completely brainwashed and idiotic.

  • Has any of our representatives been notified of these aggressive actions? HAS THERE BEEN A DECLARATION OF WAR?!

  • The Syrian government plainly told the US that if this happens again (and I quote) "We will defend our territory", and the US will continue to do this with Pakistan as well. Bush is just pushing these people to the limit, he wants to start another war to justify what hes been doing thus far.

  • @apresesco true, and now we must build a wall to keep the millions of people who want to be here from flooding into the country. i wonder why people all around the world would risk their lives to come to such a belligerent, despotic, impoverished, chaotic place like America, when such there are such free and peaceful places to live like Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Yemen, Somalia, etc. where there is little corruption.
