This is a virtual design and construction (VDC) example from a Mortenson Construction project. The SketchUp model provided a simple simulation of the steps required to install the blast windows. The installation sequence was generated from the major milestones in the construction schedule. The intent of the animation was to aid the discussion and stimulate new ideas for waterproofing the windows.

  • There are many examples of 4D. Most are used to seeing a building being constructed from excavation, foundation, structure and enclosure systems being installed over time based on the construction schedule which we refer to as a Macro level. This example is the same process, but is a smaller and more defined scope of the construction schedule which we call a Micro level 4D. This micro level 4D is much more successful with planning scopes of work.

  • how is this 4D??
