The battery lasts about 10ish hours whether you're using internet or apps, so it'd last for about 10 hours with foreflight running. I carry paper with, mainly because technology can crash, however, you can print current plates from the foreflight app for free! I'm not sure if you can charge it off the airplane.

Quick question, which iPad case/stand/clip are you using?

can you comment on you you actually "used" the iPad2?
I only saw you touch it once or twice?
couldn't even tell what software you were running
this is not what I expected

@dcd2b Hello and thanks for the comment. I realize that the iPad2 screen is rather dark in the video. This is to be expected as I am exposing for the light outside the cockpit. I was really just trying to show how I had the iPad2 setup in the cockpit as these mounts were relatively new when the video was produced.
As for the software, I primarily use ForeFlight HD in-flight. I also use Garmin Pilot My Cast and Jeppesen Mobile FD as supporting apps. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Also, I am only using the Apple Smart Cover when not being used in the plane. As you probably know, this is easy to remove so that I may quickly mount it in the cradle. Thanks again!

Hello. Thanks for watching the video and for the comment. I am using the RAM Mount iPad cradle with the twist-lock suction cup mount. == Sporty's Pilot Shop item number 5311A == Something to be aware of is that the cradle requires two rubber bumpers/pads in order to fit the iPad2. These bumpers were missing from my order with Sporty's and replacements had to be sent. I was initially skeptical, but it works really well. The mount is very secure and there is very little vibration.
