I've had a cab ride on that gp38h-3 325
-
@joneau261 but it sounds like is providing hep because there was definitely some diesel engine running in that f40ph
-
@AMGrulz Your right the F40 isnt operational but they train was heading south. The lead diesel the P-40 cannot run in reverse for a long distance since the engineer cannot see where he is going. So that is why the road crew towed the train back to Philadelphia.

damn, now that's what a K5LA is suppose to sound like

Great video, my kids and i were there that day so they got a kick out of seeing it all over again.

Why do they need 3 locomotives for that one train? I get that the F40PH probably doesn't run, but surely the P40/42 could run the train?

@AMGrulz From what I've been told, the P40 isn't equipped with cab signals, which are required on the Keystone Corridor. The GP38 is equipped, so it was added. And yes, the F40 is not powered, only being capable of cab control

Did they end the Strasburg trains that day so they could let the amtrak train out? Or did they continue and pass at Groffs?
