Timeless music stays timeless dead before i breathe my first, however did not matter, skill persisted through the years, still influences millions.

I saw him at the Ritz on west 54th street in Manhattan when I was a kid.

@gaddisawesome How is it you say the slap ruins it for this style and then say it's an interesting interpretation????That's a paradox!!!!!!!!!!It's either good or it's not good!!!!
-
@voncoolio What isn't unique about this??????This is Marcus Miller!!!How much more unique do you want that to get?Are you saying Jaco is unique but Marcus ain't?

@baBuddy111 come on man it's fine. If these new guns dont like the old shit then they got no brain. I agree with the listeing to this and then workin their way back to the original comment

I need some outfits like these.

Is this some kind of hiphop version?
-
It's simply perfect
And Marcus Miller tone makes a change on punk jazz, like power/punk jazz

Yeah, it might sound like a porno version, but that doesn't mean I can't fap to it ; )
But yes, I do like the original better. Actually, my favorite was off the Birthday album.

Yeah, the Birthday show is tight. Living in South FL, I saw a few of the shows he did near the end of his life and at best they were unpredictable which was part of his charm. It still grieves me to this day the sad turn his life took. No one really understood how sick he was till it was much too late.

Its good to know people are still passionate about Jacos work no matter which side of the fence you're on or whos interpretation you like or dislike, all comments and critiques are welcome

Marcus Miller is fantastic, but he should have not ruined this tune with that back beat.
Frankly thats all good in its place, but this is a classic tune: the original swings so deep it moves me like no tomorrow when it makes the transition. So to me, that back beat was an immediate turn off.
I highly recommend the original on Mr. Gone - its transcendent.

I cant argue about the original version, Its still my favorite as well. But we're talkin apples and oranges and whatnot. And Im not sure what Jaco might think of it. I just hope an entire new generation of kids are exposed to Jaco and work their way back to the original. I think that may have been Marcus's intent.

Images of the Jaco and friends set to Marcus Millers remix of Punk Jazz. Even though Jaco doesnt play on it, he's there in spirit. We miss you man.
