Thanks so much for posting this! I have been looking for this commercial for years- ever since I saw it air. I even had a friend at MTV search for it in their records and he was unable to find it. Love it. Hilarious. Thank you again.
When I saw that commercial on MTV-airing I believe, during her and K-Fed's obnoxious documentary show, I was like "what?? they're referencing the Adrian Mole diaries??" Crazy, huh?:)
Do you weep, Mrs. Thatcher, do you weep? Do you wake, Mrs. Thatcher, in your sleep? Do you weep like a sad wllow? On your Marks and Spencer's pillow? Are your tears molten steel? Do you weep? Do you wake with 'Three million' on your brain? Are you sorry that they'll never work again? When you're dressing in your blue, do you see the waiting queue? Do you weep, Mrs. Thatcher, do you weep?
What is funny about this poem is that it actually came from a book called "The True Confessions of Adrian Mole." In this book, Adrian Mole, a British student growing up in the 80s, wrote about Margaret Thatcher, the British prime minister at the time who broke the unions, resulting in three million people losing their jobs. Here is the full poem.
why is this... so perfect?

p.s. the book was a fake diary written by Sue Towsend, and it sold like 10 million copies :)
