A newborn in the middle of my yard.(2010) I almost hit it with a tractor with a 6 foot finish mower. I hopped off to see what that thing was. OMG i almost ground it up. TYG I think this is the first time it ever ran. I see it every day that I go look for it. Nobody hunts them here and we see them often. Now this one is so big that I can't tell her from all the others.I am making up a video that I think is her. I see her every day if I go down to my garden. I can only get within 50 yards of her unless I'm on my tractor. She is not afraid of it.

  • Jeez the man was just concerned about the deer. He was trying to make sure it was okay so if you want to educate him on the importance of not touching it, that's fine but don't be rude.

  • You should never touch a fawn being still like this. They freeze in a motionless position when the mother leaves, because movement makes them a target for predators.Likely, the doe just gave birth a few hours before and fled because of the activity in the yard, or to feed. By rousting the fawn, it fled into territory it could not deal with, and when the doe returns, she may not be able to find it. You should simply leave them alone and go back to your work after the animal has left on its own..

  • @karigeiger Actually that is an common myth, All birds, mammals, and reptiles will continue to care for their babies even if the babies have been touched by humans...Thats like saying you will abandon your baby when an animal touches it! :)

  • Oh gosh, it fell when it first tried to run! hahaha. Good thing you saw it! It's as big as your hand! <3
