hehe your right. so is it just atmospheric containment chamber now?
-
@bxiao6 yeah they should have used metal halide and high pressure sodium and built this deep underground !
-
@MrDrhennig the 'technosphere' is indeed fascinating, and illuminating in what it represents: It's REALLY hard to recreate a working Biosphere!
-
4 me it was amazing 2 C the technics in the ground floor 2 keep the BS2 staying alive.
Love that region...

@DonKarnage1 some of it is...

No life supporting biosphere, of aNY kind, could last w/o sunlight: it's the basis of all life! I spent the summer of 97 at BS2 and although truly amazing, it had many faults.
It did prove how very difficult it is to build and maintain a biosphere, though!

If you would be living on the moon or on another planet sunlight would also be available. I think in the experiment leaving out sun light was not a requirement because it would be available 'on site'
I'm not an expert but that's my assumption.
-
If it had no connection with the outside world, then why are there glass windows to let sunlight through? If it was completely self contained, it woulnd't need the sun's light.

I think the term 'sphere' is used no to define it's shape.
You have to see it as a separate Atmosphere
An artificial ecosystem. because it produces it's own food/gasses without any connection to the outside world. If this can make it work they could actually copy it and use it to colonise the moon for instance. They have not been successfull so far but I think they probably produce interesting research data
wow your an idiot
