Here are Nick At Nite promos of my favorite classic TV show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, recorded back in 1994.

For those of you who are wondering where the remaining three seasons are on DVD, here's some good news from a poster at IMDb:

A story written by Mark Harris and posted at the New York Times website (free registration required) explains that Fox Home Entertainment has confirmed that all the remaining seasons of The Mary Tyler Moore Show are coming to DVD at long last! Note that this story, we're told, will also be in print in tomorrow's Sunday edition of the newspaper, on page 17 of the Arts & Leisure section.

The legendary show's first season arrived on DVD in 2002, and then there was a long stretch without further releases. Then in 2005 and 2006 we saw three season sets arrive on DVD in short order, getting us to the 4th of the program's 7 season run. But all has been quiet from WMJ since that time.

According to the article Steven Feldstein, Fox's Senior Vice President for Corporate and Marketing Communications, stated that the reason The Mary Tyler Moore Show had not seen a DVD release since two years ago is due to "a glutted marketplace". But according to the write-up, Feldstein says that several factors have turned it around. Among them are "a marketplace that started to settle down", fan interest and persistence, a recent high-profile installment of Oprah Winfrey's talk show which featured a cast reunion of MTMS, and the fact that each of these three remaining seasons were all Emmy winners. Not to mention the fact that "Chuckles Bites the Dust" HAS to get on DVD. It just has to!

And, while the story in the Times didn't bring it up, we're sure that a few of you out there MUST have noticed the commercials teasing the new season of Lipstick Jungle, and spotted a brief preview of Moore playing the mother to the Brooke Shields character, "Wendy Healy". That exposure for the legendary actress is probably not going to hurt things to get her classic show fully released on DVD, either!

The article winds up declaring that "Fox got the message and has now committed to releasing all three remaining seasons, covering episodes from the fall of 1974 to the spring of 1977." It is also very clear in stating that Feldstein "is currently awaiting a final release schedule" for these three season sets. There's a lot more terrific info in this Mark Harris story, so be sure to read the entire thing for yourself!

Our thanks to readers Sander Conron and Nick Jones for being the first, and most helpful, of the people who e-mailed us to make sure we knew about it. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll bring you the release date(s) and other details about this, just as soon as we find out ourselves!

  • they should BRING BACK MARY MONDAYS!

  • Great news is there was always a rumor that certain seasons of the DVD's that are out of her show were destroyed.. nope..they took a while to come out.. the seasons 1,2 and 3 are the very best look-wise..they had booklets in them telling you what show was on ... the otheres were still with 2 -3 dvd's in the seasons, yet they weren't as elaborate as the others but still great and classics!!! So all 7 seasons are out now.. : ))))))))

  • This was always my favorite show when I was little to watch with my mother.. it was so funny and I always swore I was going to have that apartment. To this day I still think it's cute... No one would really want an apt with no bedroom but it was a cute situation, Rhoda, her best friend upstairs, her great friends at work, and the apt, although considered small was better than the one she got in the last couple of seasons.. still love it and loved it when Oprah had her on and recreated it.

  • I miss Mary Mondays!!! :(

  • Mary Mondays, Lucy Tuesdays, Bewitched Be-Wednesdays, Jeanie Thursdays and Sgt. Joe Fridays.

  • "Marry" doesn't even sound like a word anymore lol

  • Aaaah I have like, 30 tapes of The MTM Show and The DVD Show with all of these commercials.

Why'd they have to sell out? I'd rather watch this than Everybody Hates Chris...

  • Wow, not only am I again nostalgic for MTM, now I'm also nostalgic for a network (Nick at Nite) that based its programming on nostalgia for classic television series like MTM which, since I'd seen it first in the seventies on CBS, I already felt nostalgic about when I watched it (again) on Nick at Nite in the early nineties. My head hurts.

  • @djkst35 i was only 2 but tillllllllllllllll they should bring it back :D

  • I haven't watched Nick at Nite since probably 2000. And TV Land since around 2005.
