Waylon did a wonderful job on this one, but the best ever rendered was by Jimmie Rodgers, the father of Folk-Rock, who recorded this song on his "Town & Country" album, as "Two-Ten, Six-Eighteen." The definitive version. Rodgers, who invented Folk Rock in 1954 while performing at Nashville's Club Unique, pre-dated Dylan, the Byrds, & other folk-rock artists by more than 10 years, offerng an amped-up version of folk songs, with a bit of an African-influenced back beat. An incomparable voice.

This song should be played to ALL servicemen/women before they embark on a war that only serves to keep asshole politicians in power.
