  • Original version, heh. Can you imagine trying to play that on an oboe from Mozart's day?

As an oboist myself, I have to say, getting up there and attempting to play all those fast high notes in front of a bunch of violinists for whom the part was originally written... takes guts.

  • I'm not against transcriptions at all (original version? I'm not so sure about that!), so this was interesting, especially since the bass oboe is all but non-existent. The main trouble is that the (regular) oboe goes so high in some passages that it ceases to sound like an oboe and becomes rather shrill. But that's bound to happen if you're transcribing from a violin part....

  • typical Mozart, he goes on ranting in the prelude, the soloists have nothing to do until Mr Wolfgang decides its time for their entry.

  • [points to bass oboe] I want one

  • this aint no original version. violin& da big viola. who changed it I wonder. They cant play like string instruments.Good to hear. Bassoboe .WOW!

  • love to play to marybeth

  • What a special performance. You don't get to see many Bass oboe's around! Awesome playing as those high notes can be hard to keep to pitch!!!

  • the original? I thought this piece was originally for violin and viola

  • I really enjoy this!! And even though she struggles some with her high register work, I give the oboist a lot of credit. That's not easy to do. And the bass oboe is just awesome. Alex Klein is an oboe god!!!
