Fights, Chaos Reported In Subsidized Housing Line 30,000 people line up for free housing in Georgia

EAST POINT, Ga. -- Stress and chaos were apparent in East Point on Wednesday as frustration got the better of many people who have been waiting for days to get an application for subsidized housing.

Channel 2 Action News reporters Tom Jones and Mike Petchenik were both at the scene at the Tri-Cities Plaza on Wednesday morning as thousands of people lined up to get an application.

Petchenik said fights were breaking out and people stormed the door and police had to stop them.

Jones said, "There are thousands, I mean, thousands of people here. I've seen people fall out from the heat."
