  • Well I just listened to both of them and they aren't that different in actual melody. Franklin certainly has that great oldtimey sound. Amanda's intent was to impart the essence of the melody to her students and let them apply those wonderful techniques that Franklin and others use when they are ready for that.

  • Amanda's version is the most common one played in Anchorage Alaska. I'll have to check out Franklin George. I never heard of him. Where is he from?

  • thank you so much! This tune was dedicated to me from the stage at a sold out performance by the Bearfoot Bluegrass Band and I've wanted to learn it ever since!

  • An interesting odd-ball version, nicely played. I would rather see people learn from the playing of Franklin George, which is available on You Tube. That's where the tune started to reach everybody who plays it now. Good to stick as close to the original as we can./

  • Nice and simplified so you can hear the basic tune structure. Good Job! It's always great to see young people involved in old time music.
