dream of showing its stuff to the Ozzies.
And creating a new market for its
agility. XR219 is Airlifted in an RAAF
C17 from RAF Warton to Alice Springs
and then flies under its own steam to...
Part 1
ULURU formerly known as Ayers Rock
where accompanied by a lightning and canberra bomber it heads out to Sydney.
Meanwhile an RAAF F111c also is despatched to join the flight and chk out the characteristics. A local Walrus Seaplane
that has been renovated and restored from weather & World War 2 ravages Takes off for a spin . Formerly based in Tangmere UK .

Todays TSR2 crew are Grp Cap Bowie Bomont
and Flt Lt. Bob "Rockface" DoverCliff
F111 crew are Wing Comm Bluey Tie-Me Kangadown Taylor and FL Lt. Jack " Dingo" Woomabillabong Zingo
Its hot out there... blistering hot as they wait for their turn in the WombatWinger but looking forward to a couple o tubes of 4xxxx
and a big BarB
when they touch down again.

always find the TSR.2 and F-20 (F-5G) to share the same tragic fates,great potential aircraft. Sadly the Australian Govt could have saved both in selecting them for service at key times. Instead we got F-4 Phantoms and then eventually the F-111's. And instead of the F-20, the F/A-18 which in essence was an adaption of a Northrop design any how. Politics is cruel.

As would other countries! I've seen hypothetical artwork for the TSR.2 in German markings, Aussie markings, Belgian, Canadian, Japanese and even USAF markings! Yeah, in case that F-108 Rapier deal didn't work out!!

Wanted to like this but just too crude.

The undercarriage retraction sequence(TSR2) is all wrong.

The bogie swivels on the strut 90° so aligns with the strut before swinging forwards.

Should have viewed some actual footage first.

Disappointing.

Also if on a sales tour it wouldn't be in anti-flash white.Or be XR219 - more likely XR224 or later.

Tailerons deflect too much on takeoff I think.

Mountbatten scuppered its sales chances in Oz - navy rivalry but they still lost their aircraft carriers.
