Seattle's very own Doctorfunk was in town this week to lay basic rhythm tracks for their new CD. Working (again) with Producer Jeff Tamelier, Doctorfunk was established in 1995 and immediately set a new standard for soul music in the Pacific Northwest. Echoing the legendary passion of Tower of Power, this 10-piece ensemble has maintained the tradition and more.

With their first national release,"Prescription for Soul." on Doc Kupka's Strokeland Records, DoctorfunK joins other standouts such as Glenn Waters, Fred Ross, Lon Bronson, and Doc Kupka's own Strokeland Superband.

Featured on this recording session, included:
Steve Bolanos, Lead Vocals
Leonard Berman, Guitar & Vocals
Jim Cliff, Bass & Vocals
Ken French, Drums
Jack Halsey, Musicial Director, Horn Arranger, and Lead Trumpet
Scott Dart, Baritone Sax
Eric Popowicz, Keyboards

Jeff Tamelier, Producer, The Track Shack Studios, Sacramento, Calif.
Peter de Leon, Engineer, The Track Shack Studios, Sacramento, Calif.

  • P.S.

    Needs more ROCCO 1/16th notes.

  • Tribute to Tower of Power's 'Doc Kupka', the Baritone Sax player.

    Excellent.

Oh, yeah! Needs more 16th notes for ROCCO!
