How to destroy a hard drive with Thermite. A bit of rust and aluminium powder mixed up in the right quantity with a magnesium fuse. Could have done with a longer hose though. Sweet !!

  • where do u get iron oxide i know where to get aluminum powder

  • If you don't need a lot then do what i did and get it from eBay.

    Its pretty cheap to buy.

  • that looks like plain iron oxide

  • Mixed the Alu powder and iron oxide up to a 1:3 ratio in the bag the iron oxide came in.(prob could of done with a better mix up maybe)

I heard red iron oxide was a bit more potent so thats what i used.

  • MIxed iron oxide and alu powder in a 1:3 ratio in the bag the iron oxide came in.

It looks very red but its in the right proportions.

I heard red iron oxide made for a better reaction.

  • Plaster powder works very well also.

  • if you use 325 mesh aluminum powder and black iron ore (high quality) in a 1.5:4 ratio you could get a reaction double that much with half the thermite.

  • its supposed to be 1 part aluminum powder to 2 parts iron oxide

you have too much iron oxide

  • mix it together befor lighting it insted of just domping the powers together , you get a better reaction :D , also slap some sulpher in it for a different colour :D .

  • lol!
