@dylandollyspud they are nervous

@dylandollyspud It's just something that happens when you throw down live. You usually don't notice the tempo change until you watch your performance the next day. I know there have been times when myself and my drummer thought we were doing a song too slow. And when we listened to the playback, it turns out that it was the original tempo. The energy from the audience and the addrenaline the artist has makes them speed up the tempo sometimes. But it sure is funky! LOL!

@dylandollyspud...it has nothing to do with the singers. It's for various reason: room for as many song as possible, people are more apt to dance at faster versions. Plus, it's what real musicians do...not this crap today. when I see a concert, I wanna hear the raw, not a replica of the recorded version. I can stay at home for that shit.

Why do so many singers, especially Motown acts, speed up their songsnwhen on stage?
-

This is perhaps the first ( and best) Tax Protest Song ever written. "The natural fact is I cant pay my taxes"... Marvin is singing from the heart. He owed the IRS a little over 4 million in back taxes in the earlier eighties. Jimmy Carter had jacked the highest marginal tax rate up to 70% -an all time high. This means for every million in profit marvin made he got to keep 300 k. " Make me wann holler, thow up my arms. Were all with you on that bro. What a amazing album!

So much soul -- so much spirit.
This is good but I prefer the less-funky and more soulful studio version.
