  • These blokes new how to build a railway, I recall my old Mum telling me that when the Yanks were over here during WWII, apart from being oversexed, overpaid & over here they offered to build a new rail line for The Government from Sydney to Wollongong etc. for nothing, but it was refused. Seems Government don't look gift horses in the mouth these days, they just talk about infrastructure for the most part. Let's see some action ! With a different ending to this of course. ☺

  • CHINESE IMMIGRANTS INTENTIONALLY WRONGLY TRANSLATED MANCHU RULERS INTO HAN RULERS CAUSING THAI PEOPLE NOT TO KNOW HAN CHINESE LOST THEIR LAND AND THEN IMMIGRATED TO THAILAND. THEIR CHINA WAS PUPPET STATE OF JAPAN WHILE THAI WAS NOT BUT AXIS. RECHECK WIKIPEDIA

  • which Interpret is it? Malcom arnold?

  • I like this version of the theme the best...the movie was disturbing to me but pointed out so well the atrocities of war. The British suffered oh so much at the hands of the Japanese. It haunts me to this day...the whole of WW 2.

  • If you visit thailand, you should also visit this place in Katchanaburi. You can also canoe the river and pas under the bridge. It's true the film is ok, but it's far from the whole story.

Also Dutch, Australians, .....worked on "the railroad of death". There is also a commonwealth war grave.

  • They were indeed 2 bridges built at the same time the wooden one in fact was an emergency bridge and the iron was partly imported from JAVA(indonesia). The +/- 8 iron bows were imported. It is indeed not only the bridge but the whole 400km railroad and up distance through rough jungle an mountains. Do not forget the 200 000 romusha's who half of them lost their lives and do not have a grave. The wooden bridge was dismanteld because it was an obstruction for the boat-traffic on the river.

  • That's the second Bridge.

  • It's a very good movie, sadly the whole story is bunk. The actual bridge was iron, and still stands to this day. In fact it still carries rail traffic.
