This is the second incarnation of the Japanese Convoy (Optimus Prime) figure. This time, his trailer is included. It's a heavy, brilliantly designed figure.

The Masterpiece Optimus Prime figure is designed by the legendary Shoji Kawamori, who also co-designed the original pre-Transformers Diaclone toyline and did much work on designing famous anime robots. The other Masterpiece Transformers are designed by him as well.

His correct proportions of both his robot mode and truck mode are amazing. He needs this alternative complex transformation to enable these proportions. The figure is very large and comes with the following:

- Collector's card
- Rifle
- Non-transforming megatron in gun-mode to hold in his hand
- Energon axe
- Trailer
- The Matrix of leadership

His matrix can be opened like in the series/movie. The matrix lights up, using a battery-powered LED-box which can be removed to replace the battery. The nice thing is that the matrix/LED-box needs to be moved as well during the transformation.

Nearly every joint has chromed hydraulics, which look amazing. His wheels have suspension using 2 springs on each suspension. The wheel cabinets have painted/sculpted details.

Optimus' head can be removed from his body. It's mounted on a ball joint. His mouth shield can be moved using a button on the back of his head. His hands have separate moving fingers. One of the most well-known features of MP Prime is the ability to open both arms to show a display of another character (Megatron and Grimlock on MP-4).

When something does wrong during transformation, the blocking parts will come off to save the figure from getting damage and the pegs are rounded so that they won't snap off. This is a great idea for advanced figures such as these.

His trailer doesn't come with many features. It's obviously included to make him look complete. The cockpit in the trailer doesn't fire missiles, nor does it include Roller.

All in all, this is an extremely nice figure to own. It's a collector's product and has a huge price tag.

  • MP4 is much-much better than the new MP10. MP10 is made of 100% plastic. MP4 is made of combination of plastic and "DIECAST" metal. However, MP4 is already out of production and the price in online stores goes up to more than US$300 nowadays. Luckily, I bought mine (MP4) few months back at only US$220.

  • @hisham77x Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if I would sell MP4 to get MP10. I guess I'll keep it. I don't really like the new head mold's face. It still lacks the true cartoon-esque looks.

  • @seekerjet DON'T sell your MP4 to get the MP10. The MP4 value is appreciating now. The average price for the MP4 in ebay now is USD$300 +++++.

  • @hisham77x Okay, thanks for letting me know. I do like MP4 so I'll keep it. MP10 is great, but it's just a shame that they used all plastic and that they didn't really improve Optimus' face.

  • love the review and the music good job
