Horton Creek Arizona Backpack Trip 8-15-2009

My buddy Dave and I go to Horton Spring trail for an overnight backpack trip.... Although we didn't make it to the springs we found a great campsite about two miles in. The waterfalls in the area are quite spectacular, and there are a lot of them! The Horton Spring trail is about a eight mile round trip. We only did four cause we were lazy!

I talked to the Payson ranger station today and they said you can't overnight camp along the Horton Creek trail anymore. She said they started that this year. I'm pissed.

@solgoode1 Awww That really sucks..... Why would they do that? It made for such a beautiful overnight. What will they say we cant do next?

@mrgoding Well, i know they're changing alot of things as far as some of the trails and camping are concerned in Tonto Forest. Hopefully this is just a transition thing and they at least let us buy permits or something soon. I was planning on camping at Horton and had to change plans after i talked to the ranger.  I hiked up Babe Haught trail to knoll lake. Watch out for that hike.. it was the most physically strenous thing i've ever done, Lol. Was beautiful at the lake though.
