Nonsense, we have video billboards, stores with strobe lights and dancing wacky men and they're not too distracting.

On another note, I totally thought of this when randomly brainstorming a way to blacken tail lights without degrading the lights when they're needed. I'm pretty sure audi stole this from me. :P If you think they are useless, you're not thinking hard enough for practical possibilities.
