looks like she likes to burn oil.. see more white smoke then black

@SOUTHWESTMXRIDER well if you get a great deal then go ahead but you are going to have to work on it soon after buying these engines can overheat easily and they do not like heat at all. Check for blowby it will have lots but somtimes if its a ton there might be a lot of fuel geting by the rings. you can do lots of test also ask the guys (and gals) at diesel towing resource .com

@Hotrodnickell you should check your vacuum lines make sure the pump is working also

i drove a 96 2500 5spd that had the 6.5 and we straight piped it, it had 225k and was straight piped too. your couldnt hear the turbo at all, but that thing blew more black smoke than my friend's cummins of the same year, and also out pulled him bumper to bumber, he had strraight pipe and an intake, i just had straight pipe

I have a 6.5 td and its straight piped with a no.9 resistor on the pmd and yo cant hear the Turbo. I Think wastegate problem.

im a hardcore ford guy but i think it is the coolest fuckin thing how they would put these 6.5L in 1500s. that is so badass i would totally drive this thing with a huge fuckin smile on my face. prolly get pretty good mpgs with er too right?

i just bought a 1999 gmc 2500 6.5 turbo diesel and i want to straight pipe like your truck. But i was wondering if straight piping it will cause any kind of damage to my enigine or anything else?

Absolutely not. The better a turbo diesel can breathe in and exhale the better they run. An open air intake and exhaust are the two easiest and most effective ways you can wake your truck up without diggin deep into your pockets. If you do end up straightpipin' it make sure you post a vid!

i had been driving the truck all morning and just parked it minutes before tking this video. It uses a little oil as it has over 230k on it.
