In 1926, Witter Bynner wrote a pageant to dedicate a new swimming pool at El Delirio, now the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe. The pageant is a ridiculous "ceremonial sacrifice" of two virgins (originally played by the owners of El Delirio). In this video, Pen La Farge reads from Bynner's pageant to re-dedicate another body of water; the fountain at El Zaguan. The fountain was built in 1930, and a party was held during fiestas to dedicate the fountain. The Historic Santa Fe Foundation painstakingly restored the fountain last year and held a new Fiesta El Zaguan, inspired by the 1930 event, to re-dedicate the fountain.
