Blogger Gwendolyn Alley's application video for caretaker on the Great Barrier Reef featuring her family and footage from her home islands, the Channel Islands, breathtaking views of Two Trees, and family frolics beachside.

Gwendolyn's previous adventures include backpacking from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail, leading mountaineering trips up 14,000' peaks in Colorado, doing up to 5'10d climbs in California, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah, hiking the Inca Trail to Macchu Pichu, exploring the Western United States and Mexico in her VW van looking for hot springs, teaching college students about environmental problem solving and composition during a 5 week summer road trip to the major ecoststems in California including the Channel Islands, and many many more.

Gwendolyn's educational background includes undergraduate degrees in Environmental Studies and Literature/Creative Writing, graduate degrees in Education and English, and a significant number of grad classes in ecology, conservation biology, etc.

In addition to teaching mountaineering, environmental problem solving, literature, and college composition, Gwendolyn also teaches yoga and poetry writing classes.

She lives near Channel Islands National Park with her scuba diving, globe trotting husband, and their kindergarten aged redheaded son who joins them on their many camping, climbing, and skiing adventures.

Gwendolyn's excited about the job as caretaker because she wants to bring the beauty and amazing diversity of this magical place to everyone through the internet using social media tools like YouTube and blogs, and show how everyone can participate by protecting the planet and its species--on the Great Barrier Reef and in their own backyards.
